Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome
Tartufo is an Italian ice cream dessert originating from Pizzo, Calabria.
I had my first Tartufo at an Italian wedding and I was hooked!
Some are covered in chocolate, others coated in cocoa.
Tartufo is usually composed of two flavours of ice cream which are sculpted together by hand.
If there is fruit in the middle, the ice cream is scooped out from the middle and the fruit placed inside.
Today I am sharing my Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome with you, it has a chocolate coating, vanilla ice cream and a Lindt chocolate ball in the middle!
You do not need to be skilled to make this gorgeous dessert.
If you can pour chocolate and scoop ice cream you already have the skills needed!
Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome
Grab some chocolate chips, ice cream and chocolate balls to whip up this incredible Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome dessert.
What You Will Need:
- 2 cups of Milk Chocolate Chips (dark or white work too)
- 2.5 – 3 cups of Vanilla Ice cream (or whatever flavour you prefer)
- 6 Chocolate Balls – I used Lindt, but Ferrero Rocher would be incredible too.
- Silicone Mold

How To Make Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome
Follow along with the Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome step-by-step process photos and then find the printable recipe below!
Take your vanilla ice cream out of the freezer to soften.
Next, melt your milk chocolate chips.
Pour a small amount of chocolate into the sphere molds.
Drag chocolate up the sides until the mold is covered. Place in freezer for 5 minutes.
Remove from freezer and fill the domes with softened vanilla ice cream (while still in mold) up to about ¾ full.
Press a chocolate ball into the middle.
Place back into the freezer for 20 minutes.
Remove from the freezer and cover with remaining chocolate (while still in mold), level with a spatula.
Place back into the freezer overnight.
When you are ready to serve, remove from mold, place on a plate and drizzle some chocolate sauce on top.
Garnish with caramel flakes or grated caramel, nuts or whatever else your heart desires.
You now have a gorgeous Tartufo – Vanilla Ice Cream Dome dessert that will wow your guests or family.
I mean, come on now, you know you want to make this.

Ingredients

- Take your ice cream out to soften.
- Melt milk chocolate chips.
