I’m only 4 days late posting this milestone …

I’m only 4 days late posting this milestone … but here we are … 4 years (and 4 days) smoke free. I did it for my dad. I did it for my kids. I did it for myself.

I miss my dad so much and I hate that cancer took him from his family and this world so young.

I hope he’s up there somewhere super proud of me for sticking to it and never picking up a cigarette again.

In the beginning of my grief after losing my fathe

In the beginning of my grief after losing my father in 2021, people would always tell me that it would get easier with time. That one day it would hurt less and be easier to carry.

As I’ve gone through life dealing with that loss and the loss of friends far too young like Audrey, Shawntell, Natasha, Stephen, Laura and many others, I’ve found the opposite to be true.

My grief just became quieter as I keep it bottled up to align with the world’s idea of “moving on”.

But why do we do that? Why do we put that on those who are grieving, that at some point they shouldn’t feel such immense sorrow and sadness when thinking or speaking of someone they’ve lost?

We shouldn’t have to bury our pain and grief just to fit some societal norm. It’s ok to be sad. It’s ok to cry. It’s ok to grieve the loss however it is that you grieve.

While Laura lived her life to the absolute fullest, she should have had many more years to live, to love, to make memories and I will never understand this. I will never understand why her and why so young. Life is truly unfair 💔

Now that we’ve checked out here is the room tour some of you messaged asking for.

We stayed in family concierge at @paradisusbymelia in Cancun. We were in tower 3 (main building) in room 3200.

The resort is closing at the end of May for 10-12 months for renovations. I’m told rooms are all being renovated, I find them clean and nice. Zero complaints, even though we spend such little time in our rooms on vacation, it has everything we need and is spacious enough to not feel on top of each other.

Bar fridge is in the cupboard of the long table under the tv and is filled each day with water, pop, juice and beer. Snack area beside that is restocked daily with chips, chocolate, nuts and snack bars.

Rooms do come with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion. As well as shower caps, robes, slippers, and qtips.

Any questions about anything feel free to drop them below. I’m more than happy to answer what I can about our stay and the resort. We’ve been coming here for years and very much enjoy each trip.
