Today on the blog I’m sharing a super easy recipe for Christmas Crinkle Cookies.
If there is one thing you can always find me doing during the holidays it is baking!
I host at least one big family gathering every year on Boxing Day for Steve’s family. We have a good 30+ people in attendance and we cook and bake everything ourselves.
Needless to say, I have to bake a lot of desserts, and a variety of them, to please the crowd!
These bright and delicious Christmas crinkle cookies are so easy to make.
They are a family favourite here during the holidays and year-round … just different colours!
Christmas Crinkle Cookies
Whip up the perfect Christmas crinkle cookies for your family and friends in a snap with this easy recipe!
What You Need:
- 436 g white cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp flour (optional)
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- Red food colouring
- Green food colouring
Note: I have updated the amount of white cake mix – due to shrinkflation the amount in one box of white cake mix is no longer what it was when this recipe was originally posted.
Pour your white cake mix into a medium-sized bowl.
Next, add in your two eggs.
Then pour in your oil and mix well.
Roll your dough into one big ball.
NOTE: If you find your dough too sticky you can add 1-2 tbsps of flour and knead until less sticky.
Next, cut the dough in half.
To one half, add a few drops of green food colouring and mix well until fully combined.
Then add a few drops of red food colouring to the other half and mix well until combined.
Place dough in the fridge covered with plastic wrap or lid for thirty minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375 F.
While waiting for the oven to preheat, roll tablespoon size balls in powdered sugar and place on baking sheet with parchment paper.
Bake for 8 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Remove your Christmas crinkle cookies from the oven and let cool before serving.
Once cooled you can pop your pretty Christmas crinkle cookies onto a plate and enjoy!

Jackie says
Do you add the icing sugar to batter as well or is that just for rolling in? My batter gooey and runny, can’t roll into balls.Thx.
Aimee says
Hi Jackie, I do not. You can try refrigerating it for a few hours beforehand if your dough is gooey.
Diane says
How do they store. Can you freeze? I am assuming single cake mix
Aimee says
I typically store in an airtight container on my counter. You can freeze them (baked or the prepared dough, in an airtight container/freezer bag for up to one month).
Brittany says
How many does this make?
Aimee says
Hey Brittany, right on the printable recipe card it states that the recipe makes 15-18 cookies 🙂

These are my go-to holiday cookies. I have to hide them from the family so I have some to give to friends. This year I added crushed ca day canes and they are delicious!
Sue says
Just made these festive cookies, followed the instructions exactly. The cookies did not flatten out at all and were still doughy inside. I even put them back in the oven for a few minutes? Any suggestions?
Aimee says
I believe with all of the shrinkflation, the cake mixes are no longer the size they were when this recipe was first created. I have updated the recipe to reflect the approximate needed amount of white cake mix. However, the cookies themselves are a bit doughy, not overly doughy though.
