Remove the cinnamon bun dough from the can and cut them into bite-sized pieces. I like my casserole with small pieces.
Place the room-temperature egg in a bowl.
Add the sugar and milk then whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
Grease a ceramic baking dish with soft butter.
Place the sliced buns in the dish and pour the milk and egg mixture.
Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until golden.
Cool the finished casserole in the dish for 7-10 minutes.
Pour the creamy glaze over the warm casserole and sprinkle with almond petals.
I don’t blame you for drooling, I too am drooling while putting together the post for the recipe!
Serve it as is or with a scoop of creamy ice cream, chocolate cream, whipped cream or fresh berries if you want to get fancy!
Tips:
- The casserole can be assembled the night before, covered with foil, and left in the refrigerator; in the morning, just bake and enjoy.
- If the rolls don’t come with a glaze, mix 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk and three tablespoons of warm cream cheese.
- Be sure to wait until the casserole is warm. If you add the frosting to the hot bake, it will melt.
- The casserole will keep in the refrigerator in a closed airtight container for up to 4 days. It can be served cold or heated in the microwave.
- I do not recommend freezing the casserole.
