Feed The Gingerbread Man Sight Words Activity
Holiday-themed learning activities make learning a lot more fun for our kids!
As a mom of 3, I have spent the last 20 years teaching my kids and I always found they were more responsive to learning activities when they were made to be fun.
I created this feed the gingerbread man sight words activity for my youngest nephew to use over the holiday break from school.
He loves when his Auntie Mimi makes him fun learning activities!
I hope your little ones enjoy this fun activity too.
What Are Sight Words And How Do They Help?
Sight words help to build speed and fluency when reading.
Speed and fluency help with accuracy and increase reading comprehension.
Sight words are a collection of words that children need to learn to recognize without sounding out the letters.
They are the most common and frequently used words and are foundational words that are used to build a child’s vocabulary.
Practising sight words with your children is fundamental in their education.

There are a total of 52 sight words in this package.

The first page has your gingerbread man’s face.
After printing, cut out the gingerbread man and don’t forget to also cut out his mouth.
If laminating, cut out the gingerbread man and his mouth before laminating, then afterwards, cut out the mouth again, but be careful to leave a border of lamination so it doesn’t pop open!

The second sheet has instructions and the first 4 sight word cupcakes.

Each of the remaining pages has 6 sight word cupcakes per page.

If wanting to laminate these for durability, cut out each cupcake before placing it in a laminating sheet.
Once laminated you will need to cut them out again.

I cut mine into squares, but you can cut them into circles, or even cut them into the cupcake shape.

If you want to enhance the activity, you can have prizes for different amounts of correct sight words.

After printing out the package, cutting out all the pieces and laminating if you wish, you can attach a stick to the gingerbread man or even attach him to a basket to catch all the cupcakes he is fed!
