Pigs in a Blanket
If you asked me pigs in a blanket are one of my fave appetizers to serve at a party. They are also usually the first to run out!
Pair that with them being incredibly easy to make with only two main ingredients, these tiny hand-held bites are irresistible.
The next time you’re planning some tailgate or finger foods to serve a crowd put these little piggies on the menu. But be sure to make a couple of batches at least because it’s truly impossible to eat just one!
How many pigs in a blanket does this recipe make?
This recipe makes 24 pigs in a blanket.
What can you use instead of crescent roll dough?
Puff pastry is a great alternative. It will bake up flakier and crispier than crescent roll dough which will make them a bit fancier. You can find puff pastry sheets frozen at most stores, so you will need to thaw them before making the recipe. The baking time can also change when using different dough, so be sure to keep an eye on them, making sure you only bake them until the dough is puffed up and a beautiful golden colour.
How do you make pigs in a blanket not soggy?
Be sure you pat your cocktail sausages until fully dry before wrapping them up in the dough. This removes a lot of the moisture and ensures they come out nice and crispy.
Ways to elevate this recipe?
There are many ways to elevate these piggies. Try sprinkling them with delicious toppings like everything bagel seasoning. Using puff pastry instead of crescent roll dough will definitely elevate this recipe. You can also tuck in a bit of cheese while rolling them up (or slice the sausage and place it inside) for a little yummy surprise!
