If you happened to read my first post about UsedEverywhere.com you may recall I took the quiz to find my BIG deal personality and no surprises here, I was given the title of “The Hunter”. Being a hunter is no easy task, it entails always trying to find the best possible deal on everything. I can’t even make a single purchase without fully researching prices, sales and of course UsedToronto.com to see if someone might be selling a used version for a fraction of the cost.
Summertime seems like a hunter’s playground as people purge their unwanted items. I have had one heck of a busy summer hunting down deals!
I just LOVE that I can find listed garage sales on UsedToronto.com. You can find yours too by visiting UsedEverywhere.com and selecting your local site. Garage sales are just one of my many hunting grounds. Every week I make a list of garage sales happening in my area, map them out for maximum efficiency (you can print a map from the site) and sometimes I will even message the poster to ask specifics on clothing sizes and get a feel for what they will be selling so as to not waste any hunting time.
Garage sales are a great place to haggle <– YUP, I am a haggler, I will try to talk them down to the lowest possible price. Sometimes I even talk them into giving me free items if I am buying other things LOL!
This summer, thanks to UsedToronto.com and their wonderful posters of garage sales I am proud to say I got tons of brand new with tags on clothing for Bella for 25¢ a piece, as well as used items for much less. I am talking name brand clothes, jeans, tops, dresses, shoes, sweaters and more. I was singing sweet cheers as I keep all of Bella’s clothing in A+++ condition so I will be able to resell these for more than I paid (oh, did I just become the Flipper?), plus she will have got great use out of them. I also managed to snag a table toy for Bella for FREE, 100% totally free! It was in brand new condition, it just needed batteries!
I have been so inspired by some of my fellow DIY bloggers, aka the DIY Divas, that I think I am going to try my hand at some upcycling next and give my hunter spirit a rest.
If I had to say which three categories on UsedToronto.com are my favourite, I would choose Children’s, Free and Garage Sale. I will be utilizing the free section to indulge in some DIY projects, that way if I am an utter failure I am not out of pocket!
I encourage you to check out your local UsedEverywhere.com site and see what deals you can find or better yet, maybe you have the summer itch to purge and you can be my next haggle?
