If you are in full Halloween mode like we are around here then baking these Deliciously Dead Zombie Cupcakes is only fitting!

We have the house decorated, treats ready for the trick-or-treaters and our costumes ready to go.

I have been creating tons of fun Halloween themed crafts, printables and recipes to get my family in the Halloween spirit.

ZOMBIE CUPCAKES

If you are hosting or attending a Halloween party, or just want a fun Halloween snack for the family, these Deliciously Dead Zombie Cupcakes are the perfect treat!

Follow along with the step-by-step photos below and then print off the recipe card below.

Gather your ingredients, preheat the oven to 350℉ and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.

Make the cake mix according to the directions on the box.

Put about ⅓ of the batter in a separate bowl and add red food colouring.

Mix well until the colour is fully combined.

Place your batters into to separate piping bags.

Use 2 piping bags to fill liners about ¾ full.

Alternate plain and red batter.

Use more of the plain in each, so the red shows through more.

Bake according to directions and allow to cool.

While your cupcakes are baking, remove the wrappers on your zombie gummies if packaged.

You can also check your local Bulk Barn for bulk zombie gummies.

When your cupcakes are done baking, remove and place on a wire rack to cool.

Once cooled, use a large piping tip to core out the middle.

Repeat until you have cored all of your cupcakes.

Fill each with strawberry jam.

Place your frosting into a piping bag and frost each cupcake.

Then add on a zombie gummy to the middle of each cupcake.

Last but not least, shake on some sprinkles and enjoy!

Deliciously Dead Zombie Cupcakes

Ingredients

Boxed Vanilla Cake Mix (and ingredients to make)
Tub of frosting
Strawberry jam
Red gel food colouring
Zombie gummy candy (brains and eyeballs)
Cupcake liners
Green sprinkles

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350℉.
Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
Make cake mix according to directions.
Put aside about ⅓ of the batter in a bowl.
Add red food colouring.
Use 2 piping bags to fill liners about ¾ full. Alternate plain and red batter. Use more of the plain in each, so the red shows through more. (You can even just use a spoon to alternate each.)
Bake according to directions and allow to cool.
Use a large piping tip to core out the middle of each cupcake.
Fill each with strawberry jam.
Frost and add a gummy candy to each cupcake.
