Family Day is a day set aside to recognize the importance of families to the entire country.

There are several ways to celebrate Family Day, some people spend the day out and about and others spend it cuddled at home enjoying the togetherness.

No matter what you choose to do, there are several great ways to celebrate.

Volunteer Together

Volunteering is one of many fantastic Family Day activities.

Not only will you get to spend time with your family, but your children get the chance to learn more about helping others.

Use your child’s likes and dislikes to choose a place to volunteer at.

For Example, if your kids love animals, check out a local animal shelter.

Build the Best Fort Ever

Collect all your sheets, blankets and pillows and turn your living room into a huge cozy fort.

If you are feeling fancy, decorate the inside of the fort with those newly unused Christmas lights.

Don’t forget the snacks.

Create a Time Capsule

Celebrate your family with a time capsule.

Put everything in an airtight box or container and store it in your garage or basement.

Include things like artwork, notes, movie stubs, pictures and more.

Set a date for when you will retrieve and open the box.

Go Skating

February is an amazing time to get outdoors and use those skates!

Take advantage of the cold and blustery weather and head to your closest outdoor rink to get your skate on.

Just don’t forget the thermos with hot chocolate.

Cook or Bake Something

Spend the day creating in the kitchen.

Whether you teach your little ones an old family recipe or try a new one together, getting in the kitchen is a great way to spend time together.

In fact, have the kids create something on their own by using some delicious and fun kid-friendly recipes.

Play a Family Game

Fun games like charades or even the classic Monopoly are a great way to spend Family Day.

Gather around the table, make some delicious snacks and get a little competitive.

Visit a Local Attraction

If it’s a little culture you crave, pack up the family and spend the day visiting a local museum, science centre or art gallery.

Check your local event listings as well, many communities offer special family day activities to participate in for free or a small fee.
