Now that the first trimester is behind me I can finally say I am starting to feel more like myself. I am more energized and able to get more done during a day than a few weeks ago when all I felt I did was sleep!
We had an exciting past week since my last update between Steve’s sisters wedding (love Italian weddings – one word FOOD!) and feeling the baby move for the first time it has been wonderful!
How Far Along: 14 weeks, 4 days
Maternity Clothes: Yes and I actually found maternity pants that are ‘cool’ and do not have that band of stretchy itchiness on them YAY me! Let’s just say Jessica Simpson knows how to make beautiful maternity clothes, although she could give an expecting mother a break on the wallet *ouch*
(an outfit I purchased at Motherhood Maternity for Steve’s sisters wedding – no smile because I hate shopping for maternity clothes lol)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Last week at the doctors I was 130lbs and I am sure I have gained some weight since then but alas I do not own a scale so until the next appointment my weight is a secret haha!
Stretch Marks: Still none! I was lucky to not get any with my previous two pregnancies so I am hoping the luck continues.
Symptoms: I think I am pretty much symptom free other than cravings if you want to call that a symptom!
Have You Started To Show Yet: Le bump as you can see in the photo above which was taken last Friday is growing away, I find after being pregnant before you show much quicker than with the first. I don’t mind at all because my bump is the ONE thing I love about being pregnant.
Sleep: I have had a few nights where I only woke up once to use the bathroom so I think I am sleeping a bit better than last week but it still sucks not being able to sleep on my belly 🙁
Anything Making You Queasy Or Sick: The smell of olives in the grocery store, I just shivered thinking about it!
Happy Or Moody: I have my moments, I am generally in a good mood but things can put me in a bad mood much more quickly with my hormones raging out of control!
Food Cravings: Still loving Tang popsicles and sour keys. I did have quite a few plates of fresh shaved procuitto at the wedding, so delish. Other than that I think Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches (which by the way my Loblaws is always out of).
Food Aversions: Still don’t like Caesar Salad 🙁 I tried again at the wedding and no luck.
Best Moment This Week: Finally feeling the baby move! I remember feeling Hailee move earlier than I did Abby and this I think is the earliest I have felt movement in my pregnancies but it is just the best.
Movement: YES! It seems Baby Badali loves to go crazy in between 7pm and 11pm and it started at the wedding on Saturday.
Labor Signs: None and if all goes well I won’t have to feel labor signs as I will have a scheduled c-section prior to my due date.
Gender: Fingers crossed we can find out at our next ultrasound.
Belly Button In Or Out: Still an inny!
What I Miss: The $300.00 I spent on maternity clothes at Motherhood Maternity LOL!
What I Am Looking Forward To: I will still have to say finding out the sex of the baby, I have been dreaming about ways to scheme an ultrasound before my next appointment just because I want to know that bad.
Weekly Wisdom: Create a pregnancy journal (or if you are not crafty you can purchase one on Etsy) and take the time to journal your pregnancy. This is something I didn’t do with my first two and I kind of regret it now being older and more sentimental I want to have things to look back on and share with my child about how they came into this world.
If you are also 14 weeks pregnant below is some information on how your baby is growing!
How your baby’s growing:
This week your baby is making some big developments! Your little bundle of joy can now pee, squint, frown, grimace, and possibly suck their little tiny thumb! The baby’s brain impulses are allowing their facial muscles to get a workout as your baby’s tiny features form one expression after another. Your little one can now grasp too and their kidneys are producing urine, which is being released into the amniotic fluid around them (gross I know).
Your baby’s is growing like a beautiful little flower in the spring and from head to bottom your baby measures about 3 1/2 inches and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces, which is about the size of a lemon! My better half loves all the fruit sizes of the baby since he works in produce at his family’s store! Your baby’s body is growing faster than their head and by the end of this week their arms will have grown to a length that is in proportion to the rest of their body. Your baby is also starting to develop an ultra-fine downy covering of hair called lanugo all over their body. Though you may not be able to feel their tiny punches and kicks yet your little baby’s hands and feet are more flexible and active. Some women who have had previous children will feel movement sooner than others.
Most women find the second three months the easiest stage of pregnancy. This seems to be when sleep is much sounder and your baby bump is not too big to impede your movements – I already can’t paint my toenails, sad day when that happens! Make sure to make the most of these energetic middle months by enjoying activities such as walking, low-impact aerobics and swimming – where’s the beach?

Hi. I’m so happy for you. Happy thoughts and wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy. I just had one question. I Had names for my pregnancies too generally some combination of my name and the fathers, just wondering how you came up with yours?
Aimee says
Hi Monica,
Thank you for the well wishes! We have yet to come up with names for this baby yet although I have some favourites already. For my two daughters I had two names I loved when I first got pregnant and my first daughter got one and when I had my second daughter she got the other. There was really no combining names for our family as I just had certain names for girls/boys I liked and when they were born they got one of them. I am sure much will be the same for this baby, I will narrow down my favourites and pick among them. This baby already has its middle name as it will take my better half’s Grandmas name for the middle name if a girl and his Grandfathers name as the middle name if a boy.
