DIY Bath Bombs

  1. Measure and place your dry ingredients; baking soda, citric acid, epsom salt, and corn starch into a medium or large-sized mixing bowl. Whisk together really well.
  2. In a small bowl measure and place your wet ingredients; coconut oil, essential or fragrant oil, water, and about 5-10 drops of food colouring. Whisk together well.
  3. SLOWLY, a little bit at a time, add your liquid to the dry ingredients, whisking well after each liquid addition. Repeat this until you have added all your liquid. Your mixture should be the consistency of wet sand, not soaking wet. When you grab a handful and squeeze, it should easily bind together.
  4. Using your mold of choice you need to compress your mixture into a bath bomb. When using a round mold like mine you will want to place your mixture in one side at a time. Place a handful in and press down, then add more and press again. You will want to have it “over-filled” so that when you press the two sides together they compress and join.
  5. If using cookie cutters I suggest placing the cutter on a lined baking sheet, then really pack and press the mixture into the cutter.
  6. Take out of the mold right away by gently tapping with a butter knife, one side at a time. I then place them on a lined baking sheet and let them dry for about 24 hours before using.
